Safe Homes/Rape Crisis Coalition

Services: emergency shelter, support and assistance to victims of domestic violence and their dependent children as well as assistance in serving orders of protection, individual and family therapy, support groups and 24-hour crisis lines. Hospital, police and court accompaniment is provided for victims of sexual assault. The agency also provides in-service training for service providers and community education programs.

STOP ABUSE IN THE COMMUNITY

Services: APS -Adult Protective Services are provided for seniors and people with disabilities, who are at least 18 years old and are victims of actual or potential abuse, neglect, or exploitation. The mistreatment may be caused by others or self. Services are provided to the adult to meet basic needs and to ensure safety.

Exception/Criteria: elderly is 60+; will help anyone with medication; must bring bill/cut off notice along with SSN, picture ID, and proof of income or lack thereof.

Harbor of Hope (Miracle Hill)

Services: shelter for victims of abuse, designated shelter for the homeless, a centralized facility to coordinate between health providers, social workers, homeless families, abused women and their children, homeless elderly men and women, and people in need. The agency also provides three meals everyday, laundry facilities, Christian counseling, clean clothing and vital link to health, human services and other community agencies.

Senior Citizens of Cherokee County

Services: Gaffney Senior Center offers a variety of programs and services to promote the well-being of older adults who live in Cherokee County. Services include on-site group or home-delivered meals, social and recreational activities, homemaker assistance, health/wellness programs, information and referral services, in-home respite care, and care management. The goal is to help older adults lead independent lives in their own homes.
